Dr. Ante Sesardić (1881-1960)

Introduction

Ante Sesardić was an Austrian lawyer and politician of Croatian nationality from Dalmatia, and a member of the Imperial Council at the beginning of the 20th century. He was born 1881/02/17 in Sinj (Austria, now Croatia) and died in Belgrade (Yugoslavia, now Serbia).

Life Before the World War 1

He graduated law in Vienna (Austria) and had a practice in his native town of Sinj. In the elections to the Imperial Council in 1911, held under universal and equal suffrage, he was elected as the Member of the Imperial Council for the district of Dalmatia 05. He was the member for the terms 1911-1918 and listed as the candidate for the Law Party. He was also a member of the Croatian-Slovenian parliamentary club at the Imperial Council.

Life Between the World Wars

Even during the interwar period, he was one of the important personalities of the public life in Dalmatia.

Life After the World War II

Towards the end of his life, he translated from Italian into Croatian the Statute of Alka, the famous traditional equestrian competition from Sinj that is now on UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists.
